‘Unprecedented’ flooding event wreaks havoc in Uruguay capital of Montevideo

Jan. 19 — A deluge struck Uruguay’s capital of Montevideo on the beginning of this week, inflicting chaotic scenes across the city as streets had been left underwater after greater than a month’s worth of rain fell over the course of a couple of hours.

The torrent of rain began Sunday evening and endured thru Monday morning, pouring down at a tempo too fast for the bottom to properly soak up and typhoon drains to maintain up.
