Supreme Court judge in N.Y. strikes down state’s COVID-19 mask mandate; Hochul promises fight

Jan. 25 (UPI) — A judge of the new York State Ultimate Court Docket has struck down Gov. Kathy Hochul’s COVID-19 mask mandate as unconstitutional, but the state’s Education Department says faculties will have to proceed to conform with the requirement.

The mandate used to be enacted in December for colleges and indoor public areas and was prolonged till Feb. 1, because of a dramatic upward thrust in coronavirus circumstances. But Judge Thomas Rademaker of the Nassau County Superb Court Docket ruled on Monday that Hochul does not have emergency powers to make stronger the restrict.
