Ohio Supreme Court rules new redistricting maps be drawn

Jan. 12 (UPI) — The Perfect Court of Ohio ruled Wednesday that newly authorized redistricting maps have to be redrawn to comply with the state’s Charter as the ones recently adopted disproportionately prefer the Republican Party.

The state’s highest court dominated FOUR-3 that the maps, drawn by way of the Republican-leaning Ohio Redistricting Fee and approved in September to be in place 4 years, didn’t mirror statewide voter preferences in violation of voter-approved provisions of the state’s Constitution.
