North Carolina Supreme Court rules gerrymandered congressional maps violate constitution

Feb. FOUR (UPI) — The North Carolina Ideally Suited Courtroom dominated Friday that the new political maps drawn by way of Republicans last year violated the state’s constitution.

The Preferrred Courtroom issued days after the court docket heard televised arguments over whether or not the political maps gave an excessive advantage to Republican districts regardless of the close divide of North Carolina voters. The legislative maps gave Republicans as many as 11 secure districts in comparison to just 3 for Democrats.
