Myanmar rife with crisis, violence, rebellion one year after military takeover

Feb. 1 (UPI) — Tuesday marks the only-12 months anniversary of the military takeover of the civilian govt in Myanmar that has killed hundreds, locked up former leaders and left the rustic in a state of monetary and political upheaval.

On Feb. 1, 2021, army leaders in the Asian nation seized control of the federal government, announced a countrywide emergency and detained leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other best officers — announcing they were elected through an illegitimate and fraudulent election. The elections in November 2020 had been the second when you consider that Myanmar transitioned from an army dictatorship to a democracy.
