MBTA sends 40-year-outdated Orange Line automobiles off to scrap heap


MEDFORD – The new Orange Line autos are up and operating and the outdated kinds are heading to the scrap heap.

Flatbed vehicles hauled absent two 40-calendar year-outdated trains from the Wellington Yard and Servicing Facility in Medford Thursday early morning. More will be taken away following week.

The MBTA stated they will be turned into scrap metal at the Costello Dismantling Firm in Middleboro.

The previous cars are becoming changed by an completely new fleet of 152 vehicles that the T calls “state-of-the-artwork.”
